Shopping at Jabong Kids – A Review

Well, if you watch TV you probably know about Jabong.com. They are an online retail store retailing apparels and accessories for men, women and kids. I had never shopped with them before, so when I was gifted a voucher to shop at their kids section and review it, I was quite happy to explore.

Our Experience

We found the website look and feel quite good. It was easy to navigate and you do not feel lost. Kids section has clothing for girls and boys, toys, watches, shoes, school bags, sandals, sports shoes, accessories, home and furniture.

I ordered an item which some amount over the voucher amount and tried paying with credit card, but it did not let me checkout. I then tried their Cash on Delivery option which did not work for me either. I wrote a mail to the contact person but sadly did not receive any response. A few days later I tried to order another item which was less than the voucher amount and it worked. Checkout was done in seconds. I received acknowledgements on my email and mobile. The next day I received a message that it has been shipped and I should get it within 3 days. I was quite surprised when the courier guy called me the next day and that too on a Sunday to deliver my package. They also take digital signature of the receiver which is pretty cool and makes chances of wrong delivery difficult.

Quality of the goods received

I had ordered a dress for my daughter and it was exactly how it appeared. The material of the dress was really nice cotton. Now, I hardly ever shop online for clothes, because I need to touch and feel the stuff specially when buying for my girl, but this was a good experience.

What we liked

Easy navigation and clear listing of products. It even tells how many pieces are available for which size while ordering, which is a good feature.

Shipping is fast and users are sent messages at every stage.

Product was very good quality and did not differ from the picture shown in any way.

They also have a 30 days return policy which is quite good.

What we did not like

Nothing really other than the initial hiccup with payment and voucher. I also did not like that there was no response to my query.

They could add some more options in the toys section.

It was a good experience and I would love to shop with them again.

Safetykart.com: Two products which we loved

Many of you know that I have been travelling for last couple of months and have I covered many cities during this time. So I and Aanya have been to Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Bangalore in this short period. Now two of my biggest concerns during travel are mosquitoes and public toilets. I received mosquito bands and pee-safe which put my mind at ease regarding these. Here is my experience with both these products.

Separation Anxiety in an Older Kid

My daughter Aanya has been a very settled child right from the time she was a baby. She has been friendly, outgoing and mixes easily with people. She has always loved meeting new people and would never cry for us if someone took her away. She is the happiest child in her playgroup and didn’t cry even on the first day of school. In short she never showed any signs of separation anxiety much to my relief and sometimes disappointment (*doesn’t my baby love me enough*).

Crafty Chimp October Craft Box Review

Art and craft is an essential part of every child’s growing years and I personally love making crafts and as much as possible with my daughter. I love the idea of subscription based craft boxes which are in vogue these days. These are basically activity boxes with 2-3 activities per month. They reach your house every month with a theme in mind without you having to worry about activities, buying stuff and running around. Just set a day and get your kids started. It is as simple as that. The latest entrant in this space is Crafty Chimp by Subashini Eswaran. The first thing to love is the cute chimp on the logo.

Here is our review of their October box.

TV shows for toddlers – Yes, this one is a post about the dreaded idiot box. As a young, first-time mom, I am always concerned about anything that my child is exposed to. One of the necessary evils of our generation is the television. I know there are few who can manage without it and one must look for creative and fun activities for children, but it is an essential part of most people’s daily lives. In such a scenario, how does one limit or ban TV viewing for our children.

What to do when baby falls off the bed?

What to do when baby takes a bump on head?

What to do if baby falls off the bed

My baby fell off the bed – What should i do?

No no, do not worry! It didn’t happen to my baby. Well, it did happen to her a long while back but not recently. But few days back I got a call from a friend whose 8 months old baby had fallen from the bed and she was beside herself with guilt and worry. It so happened that she dozed off while feeding at night and her baby who has just discovered crawling somehow managed to cross her and next thing she saw was the baby lying on the floor crying her heart out. I’m sure it sounds commonplace to seasoned parents, but for a first-timer it is nightmarish. I still remember the first time it happened to my daughter, I just could not sleep anymore for next few months and would check on her many times a night.

Other’s assurances don’t help much in such a case but it is always good to be prepared for such an eventuality. Most of the times babies do not get hurt much as their skulls are much softer than adults and thus able to absorb the impact. It is more the shock of the fall than any major damage.

What to do if your baby rolls off the bed?

  • If your baby falls on head, it is important to observe her carefully. Look for any bumps or swellings on head. If the baby seems OK after a little while and sleeps again, let the baby sleep.
  • Take good feel of your baby’s full body for any lumps, check the eyes carefully whether they are able to focus or not.
  • If the baby cries excessively or becomes unconscious, take her to the doctor immediately.
  • If baby develops fever or vomits, it is time for the emergency room.
  • Be observant for next couple of days for any unusual lethargy or drowsiness. Mention this to baby’s doctor.
  • Take the baby to doctor without delay if there are any convulsions or seizures.

Precautions to reduce risk of falling by infants

Infants and toddlers are prone to fall off beds, cribs, couches, changing tables and so on. You can take a few precautions to cut the risk though.

  • Make the baby sleep on the cot with rails at a safe height.
  • Once the baby is sitting and trying to pull up, adjust the mattress to the lowest level on the crib.
  • If baby sleeps on a regular bed, do carpeting in the room to cut down the impact if it happens.
  • Put safety gates on stairs once the baby starts crawling and exploring.

Above all be calm and do not be too hard on yourself. I am yet to meet a mom whose baby has not taken a tumble during those early months. Remember, if you panic your child will also pick up the vibes and will be harder to console.
